Description

This 8-day program in Peru offers a complete experience blending history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. It begins in Lima, where you will explore its colonial and modern architecture, including the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, and the Santo Domingo Convent. Next, you will travel to Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire, to discover its temples, markets, and traditional neighborhoods. The journey continues to the Sacred Valley, visiting picturesque towns like Chinchero and unique archaeological sites such as Moray and Ollantaytambo. The highlight of the trip is a visit to Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, where you can admire its terraces, temples, and stunning scenery. The itinerary includes free time for optional activities and accommodations in carefully selected hotels in Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Aguas Calientes.

Arrival, reception, and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Lima.

Breakfast. In the morning, we will tour the main streets, squares, and avenues of the city. We start with a panoramic view of the Miraflores district. We begin at the “Parque del Amor” (Love Park), where we will see the famous sculpture The Kiss by Peruvian artist Víctor Delfín. Then, we will observe the impressive Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial center of the Lima culture. We continue to the Plaza de Armas, where we find the Government Palace and City Hall. We will visit the Cathedral and walk to the Convent of Santo Domingo, whose halls were walked by San Martín de Porres and Santa Rosa de Lima in the 17th century and where their remains now rest. Free afternoon. Overnight in Lima.

DAY 03 – LIMA – CUSCO (City Tour)

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to board the flight to Cusco. Arrival, reception, and transfer to the hotel. Free morning to acclimatize. In the afternoon, we will tour the beautiful city of Cusco, Capital of the Inca Empire. We start at the San Cristóbal viewpoint for a privileged view of the city. Then, we visit the San Pedro Market to discover local customs and products. Next, we visit the Koricancha Temple, an emblematic site of the city, and admire its imposing Inca constructions. We continue to the famous San Blas neighborhood, walking through its streets that mix Inca and Colonial culture. We finish our tour at Cusco Cathedral to learn its history and appreciate its incredible colonial artworks. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 04 – CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY (Sacred Valley Excursion)

Breakfast. We will visit the most outstanding sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We head to Chinchero, the most typical and picturesque town in the Sacred Valley, famous for its women weavers. We stop at a textile center to appreciate their beautiful fabrics and learn ancient Inca techniques for dyeing and spinning alpaca wool. In Chinchero, we visit its Inca archaeological complex and beautiful colonial church, enjoying the stunning natural scenery. We continue to Moray, a beautiful and curious Inca archaeological complex with colossal concentric terraces resembling a great amphitheater. In Inca times, it served as an agricultural laboratory to recreate various microclimates. Lunch at a local restaurant. We finish by visiting the fabulous Ollantaytambo archaeological complex, important to the Incas as a military, religious, and agricultural center. We will see the Temple of the Ten Windows, the Ñusta baths, the Temple of the Sun, among other sites. The views from Ollantaytambo will close this magical day in the Sacred Valley. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.

DAY 05 – SACRED VALLEY – AGUAS CALIENTES (Excursion to Machu Picchu with lunch)

Breakfast. We take the train to visit one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Arrival at Aguas Calientes station, where our staff will assist us to board the transport that ascends through a winding road offering spectacular views of the Urubamba River shaping the famous canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will welcome us with its incredible terraces, stairways, ceremonial enclosures, and urban areas. Energy radiates throughout the site. After a guided visit, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 06 – AGUAS CALIENTES – CUSCO

Breakfast. Free morning. At the scheduled time, return by train and transfer from Ollantaytambo station to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco.

Breakfast. Free day for optional activities. We recommend visiting Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park, Rainbow Mountain, Sirenacocha Lagoon, or Tipón fountains. Overnight in Cusco.
